Cyprus
Cyprus has historical connections with the UK being a British colony till 1960.
In 1878. Cyprus came under British administration, but still remained part of the Ottoman Empire.
In 1914. Cyprus was annexed to British Crown as Turkey sided withe the Germans in the war.
In 1960. Cyprus became an Independent state.
The island of Cyprus is still part of Turkey in the north but in the South there are many British xpats.
It is the only place in Europe outside the UK and Ireland where people drive on the left.
An ideal holiday location with a warm mediterranean climate, great food and many nice beaches.
The South coast of the island is quite hot in summer but the central hills are cooler.
