![]() Domaine de Cazes is situated in 21 acres of private land, on the southern slopes of th Montagne Noir with panoramic views over the valley to the Pyrenees beyond. a traditional french farm house which has been converted, retaining much of its charm and character, whilst offering modern convenience. Situated within the grounds we have a large boule pitch and a new 14x6metre fully tiled pool. Open all year round our gîte Is especially designed for four people. Whether for a relaxing summer break or for a longer winter stay. It has its own private garden with BBQ and garden furniture. The main door of Albizzia leads into an open plan area: Kitchen area - a country style kitchen, with had build cupboards, electric oven, microwave and fridge. all usual kitchen untensils, crockery and cutlery. Living Area- which has four comfy chairs, a large dining table and buffet, there is a CD player ad beautiful views across the valley. The Bathroom - a large modern room, tiled from floor to ceiling. First floor - main bedroom - a large room with a comfy double-bed with bedside cabinets and dressing table. the second bedroom is off the main bedroom and has twin beds. Linen and Towels are provide for use within the gîte. Activities Nearby The large lake at St Ferreol (a 10 minute drive) with a sandy beach and back-drop of pine woods offers swimming and water sports, as well as numerous bars and restaurants, There are plenty of quiet roads and tracks for cyclists and many marked walks, local restaurants and of course wine tasting. Or try a visit to one of the many traditional markets. Location In the heart of Cathar Country we are a few minutes walk from the charming old village of Villemagne and are ideally situated to explore this magnificent region with its spectacular mountains, streams caves and castles, the nearest Cathar Castle being situated in the next village, and we are only a short drive from Carcassonne, the largest fortress city in France. Our nearest town is Castelnaudary. Its main feature being the Canal du Midi which has its large turning basin in the centre of the town, and just to the west of Castelnaudary you can visit the central and highest point of the canal where the waters flow in both west and east directions. Castlenaudary is also famous for its ‘Cassoulet” and home to the French Foreign Legionnairs who have an annual open day. A short drive will take you into the Medieval City of Carcassonne, or travel west to the bustling city of Toulouse. For those wishing to go further the Pyrenees are just over an hour and a half drive away, ideal for walking or winter ski trips. For those seeking the sun, the Mediterranean is only a 70 minute drive. |
