The Montagne Noir is a beautiful part of France, and the gite is situated on the southern side with views to the Pyrenees, on the hills here it is mainly sheep and beef farming while down in the valley it is arable and vinyards, Carcassonne has its very famous cité and Castelnaudary has the Canal du Midi and cassoulet, Revel nearby has a super Saturday market and St Ferreol has a big lake with beaches, swimming, restaurants and boating and riding, good area for birdwatchers and walkers
