La Rochelle, only 45 min drive away, is a very attractive port with waterside cafés and restaurants offering relaxing breaks with Europe’s largest Aquarium which is open every day, Museums, and a daily fish market.Venise Vert is a canal system very famous in the Vendée area. Puy de Fou is a theme park which includes medieval jousting, crafts and actors in period costume. This is very popular and tickets should be pre-booked. The château of Terre-Neuve is perfectly situated in Fontenay Le Comte.
