La Fuente is our authentic Moorish holiday apartment, located in Vejer. Arguably the jewel in the crown of the lovely Costa de la Luz, Vejer is perhaps THE “Pueblo Blanco”, becoming a national monument in 1979. La Fuente is very conveniently situated within the old town, fronting onto a cobbled camino. This leads directly off the picturesque Plaza Espana with its ceramic tiled fountain and surrounding bistro eateries. Views to Morocco are a minute’s walk in the other direction.

The Costa de la Luz is a long stretch of spectacular beaches, which enjoy 300 days of sunshine a year. The surrounding area has excellent watersports (surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing and scuba diving) and the region is renowned as a cycling and walking destination. Excellent fishing can be enjoyed, both freshwater and sea. Horse-riding is also very popular, with the Jerez horse fair attracting equestrian-lovers the world over. We recommend a gallop along the shore at El Palmar, through one of several local riding centres. Also nearby is the town of Tarifa, which is heavily influenced by its Moorish past, but also includes the remains of a Roman settlement (Baelo Claudia) nearby. Tarifa is the southernmost point in Europe, and Morocco is a short ferry crossing away. This stretch of water where the Atlantic meets the Meditteranean is excellent for whale-watching, with regular tours leaving the harbour. Cities to explore in the area include Seville, Jerez and Cadiz. Sherry, flamenco and the world's finest tapas are in abundance.
