The beach here is very safe as it has a very gentle slope into the waters of the Mediterranean. The other centres, about 1km away are the port and old town areas that have retained much of their old Spanish charm full of narrow streets. Because of its natural beauty Javea is regarded as a jewel on the Costa Blanca.
